Thessaloniki will soon be seen in countries of Latin and Central America and the Caribbean as the Northern Greek city will “star” in one of the upcoming episodes of travel program “Rest of the World” of Argentina’s Channel 13.

According to the city’s tourism organization, Thessaloniki’s appearance on the Argentinian program is hoped to attract new markets through air connections from Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo to Thessaloniki via Istanbul.

“Rest of the World” TV host Ivan De Pineda Gualdoni and his crew recently arrived to Greece to film the Northern Greek city and were toured around Thessaloniki for two days.

Mr. Gualdoni and his crew sampled Greek cuisine and filmed the Vlatadon Monastery, the Rotunda monument, Aristotelis Square, the White Tower, Agia Sofia, the Upper Town and the districts of the “Ladadika” and Valaoritou.

Channel 13 is one of Argentina’s top TV stations and the “Rest of the World “ program will broadcast in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. It has a viewership of 13 million persons.

Some 20,000 Greek expatriates reside in Argentina and are organized in seven large Greek communities (three of them in Buenos Aires) with the support of the Greek Orthodox Church.
