Event News Conference On Air Traffic Control To Be Held In Alexandroupoli by GTP editing team 10 May 2013 written by GTP editing team 10 May 2013 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Greek air traffic controllers, representatives from the country’s regional airports, executives from the Civil Aviation Authority and many aviation specialists will give their expertise and focus on the latest developments and future directions in air traffic control at the national conference of the Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association scheduled to take place this month in Alexandroupoli. The conference, held in collaboration with the Municipality of Alexandroupolis and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, will take place 24-26 May 2013 at the Grand Hotel Egnatia. Among issues to be focused on at the conference are: national and regional economic developments, Quality Management Systems – QMS, Safety Management Systems – SMS, new systems and procedures provided by air traffic controllers, procedures and parameters in regards to the privatization of Greece’s regional airports and environmental protection. According to the Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association, the importance of the conference is high during the current economic and social situation, during which “the Greek Government is planning to launch regional airport concessions to private investors.” The association has expressed reservations on the matter taking under consideration possible consequences for the country’s air transport and the local economy. “The importance of this conference is very high due to the fact that it concerns workers of the most important area of the country’s tourism management as 80 percent of tourists arrive to Greece by air,” the association said. It is noted that the conference coincides with the congratulatory letter the association recently received from Eurocontrol (European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation) for “drastically reducing flight delays in 2012.” For further information on the conference, contact Evangelos Angelis on tel.: 6945.371937 and Stylianos Zantanidis on tel.: 6936.159442.
