The city’s long cultural history and multicultural character are our comparative advantages,” the president of the Chamber of Xanthi, Stelios Moraitis, said on 13 May during a conference at the Le Chalet Hotel in the Pigadia area of Xanthi. Through the conference, the chamber aims to highlight the religious, tourism and cultural values of Xanthi and the diversity of the region in general to boost arrivals and tourism revenue. “Xanthi offers high quality tourism products at competitive prices and has all the requirements, from natural resources to infrastructure, to attract visitors all year round,” Mr. Moraitis said. Attending the conference are tourism experts such as TURSAB’s Aziz Ciga; the vice president of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Elena Tanou; Gabriella Tiberi from the Municipality of Lancuano in Italy, and others. Attendees will be given a tour of Xanthi on the second day of the conference. The conference is held within the framework of the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme.
