Culinary Gastronomy Days To Be Held At Benaki Museum by GTP editing team 17 May 2013 written by GTP editing team 17 May 2013 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 The Benaki Museum is getting ready to launch a gastronomy event next week to highlight Greek gastronomy and promote the authentic and unique food products of the country. “The basic goal of ‘Gastronomy Days: Geographical Indication Greek’ is to form an original source of collocation of various elements that constitute the heterogeneous canvas of contemporary Greek gastronomy: producers, creators, chefs, agencies, entrepreneurs, policy designers and so forth; which is worth viewing as a discrete cultural event, but also as a vehicle for cultural and economic rebirth for Greece,” according to the Benaki Museum The program of events includes: a representative exhibition of products by selected Greek producers a program of tastings and cookery by popular chefs (including a live cooking stage) events to publicize Greek drinks with award-winning mixologists theme-based events focusing on the links between gastronomy, architecture, tourism and culture actions in support of initiatives and to introduce particular local elements from regions such as the island of Lemnos, which is this year’s featured gastronomic destination a special event for representatives of international organizations, foreign agencies, states and news networks, which will include the participation of European Union Commissioner on Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Maria Damanaki and Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni presentations and open discussions concerning good practices in agricultural production, the use of new technologies, exports. The event will take place at the Benaki Museum 24-26 May. Time: 10:00 – 23:00 Entrance: € 10 (admission free for children aged up to 12) The “Gastronomy Days: Geographical Indication Greek” event is organized by “Reason to” in collaboration with the Food Concepts, the Hellenic Institute of Architecture and the University of Aegean and held under the auspices of the Greek Tourism Ministry and with the support of the Benaki Museum.
