The Canadian press has recently run a series of press reports on Greece that contain positive references to Athens, Thessaloniki and the Greek islands.

More specifically:

In his article, journalist Alexander Besant points out: “If you’re going to Greece this year, chances are you’ll pass through Athens. You’ll probably stay a night, see the Parthenon and then leave quickly… That’s a shame because Athens is a fascinating city.”

The journalist recommends a series of places to visit and have fun in the Greek capital, offers advice on specific “tourist traps” and underlines that Athens has a nightlife that “rivals any of its Mediterranean neighbors.”

At the end of the article, Mr. Besant notes: “Any other city would have collapsed under the weight of crippling austerity, but Athenians, who have survived Persian attack, Ottoman occupation and military dictatorship, will be the first to let you know they have seen worse.”

Mr. Besant particularly refers to:

Folegandros – “…the best decision I’d make that summer.”
Patmos – “..Forbes magazine proclaimed Patmos the most idyllic place to live in Europe. It’s hard not to see why…”
Anafi – “Anafi is stunning…”
Samos – “…one of Greece’s greenest islands known for its Muscat wines.”
Samothrace “…one of Greece’s most magical islands.”

ThessalonikiToronto Star – “Tourists put economic woes aside and flock to see the wonders of Greece”

Journalist Liz Alderman gives a positive report on Greece and makes particular reference to Greece’s second largest city, Thessaloniki.

The journalist notes that online reservations have increased 20-30 percent for Mykonos and also points out that the tourism board of Santorini has proclaimed 2013 as the “Year of Gastronomy” for the island.
