Her latest show channels the quiet resilience of the Spartan maidens against a backdrop of modern Athens. Borrowing the Caryatids from their sacred porch at the Acropolis, Sotiropoulou reminds the world that, even in crisis-mired Athens, the profound imagery of these ancient women scream relevance, determination and strength. Sotiropoulou’s solo photography exhibition “Caryatids” will open Tuesday 11 June at Skoufa Gallery in Athens at 7:30pm. Exhibition runs until 6 July. The exhibition will also open in Boston, U.S., on Thursday 13 June at the French Cultural Center (53 Marlborough Street) at 6:30pm.
