Chinese_Athos_5For two days, six journalists from Shanghai toured Mount Athos and areas around the Aristotelian Mountain to record the features of the area as a tourism destination.

The tour took place 8-9 June and was part of an educational trip organized/conducted by Meli Tours in Central Macedonia that aimed to promote the area to the Shanghai market.

Chinese_Athos_2During their stay, the Chinese journalists visited Mount Athos, the birthplace of Aristotle, the area of the Canal of Xerxes, the Ottoman baths of Mahala, the village Arnaias and the island of Ammouliani.

Ammouliani is the only inhabited island of Halkidiki and stands out thanks to its sandy beaches and cuisine.

The journalists from Shanghai arrived to Mount Athos during the “Mount Athos Area Gourmet 2013” and were informed about the activities of the institution and sampled authentic Greek dishes made with organic products from the Aristotelian Mountain and Mount Athos.
