Chania Wins Council Of Europe’s “12 Star City” Award

Chania_Venetian_harborEuropean Local Democracy Week_logoFor the second year in a row, Chania on Crete was honored with the special award “12 Star City” that is granted for achieved results every year by the Council of Europe during the celebration of the European Local Democracy Week (ELDW) 2012.

From 15 to 21 October 2012, the Municipality of Chania held a series of activities and events related to the leading theme of the ELDW, which was “Human Rights Make for More Inclusive Communities.”

The special prize was also awarded to another 16 European cities from a total of 130 local and regional authorities and partner associations.
