AIA_homepage1The official website of Athens International Airport (www.aia.gr) is “on air” and offers users a modern and friendly tool while it also addresses their personal needs.

Far from traditional, old-fashioned designs, the new aia.gr, with its minimal design, catches the modern spirit for mobility, interaction, and quick information.

According to official data, the website receives some 9,500 clicks every day.

The new characteristics and innovative applications that can be found in the new site, include:

  • AIA_homepage2bA time lapse video in the intro and home page that offers a unique welcome to the site visitor with moments and images from the airport life as well as the many “faces” of the city of Athens
  • “responsive design”: The latest trend in web sites’ design, renders www.aia.gr automatically adaptable to variable screen resolution on the latest web browsers
  • “flight tracker”: The real-time status of the user’s flight can be found at all times on top of every page
  • Traffic feed: Provides real-time traffic feed, regarding access to/from the airport, presented both in text and map format
  • Brief airport guide available in 7 more languages besides Greek and English (German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Arabic)
  • “e-parking” application that allows travelers/visitors to pre-book spaces in AIA’s parking lots
  • “traveler logbook”: in the era of social networking, visitors of www.aia.gr now have their own room where they can upload and share their experience during their visit to Greece
  • Plane spotting: in the multimedia gallery, site users can enjoy photos of various aircraft types

In the near future, the ATH Airport application will be redesigned for iPhone, Android and Windows, while, also coming up, is the new interactive airport map in HTML5, compatible with all iOS based devices.
