athens-greece-taxiThe important role of taxi drivers – usually the first point of contact for tourists in a foreign country – on Greece’s tourism image was the subject of a meeting held Monday, 15 July, at the Greek Tourism Ministry at the initiative of Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Michalis Papadopoulos, Tourism Secretary General Tasos Liaskos and the president of the taxi drivers union (SATA), Thimios Liberopoulos.

During the meeting, it was decided for all taxi cabs in Greece to be equipped with soon-to-be-published leaflets that will contain indicative prices for routes and other useful information to assist tourists when entering and leaving the country.

Mrs. Kefalogianni highlighted that a taxi driver’s professionalism and excellent service to tourists/customers play a significant role on the country’s tourism image.

Also discussed were regulations for the launch of mini van type vehicles that are expected to improve the level of offered services to tourists.
