Initiatives Blue Star Ferries Wraps Up 2013 Sun Protection Program For Greek Islands by GTP editing team 16 July 2013 written by GTP editing team 16 July 2013 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Blue Star Ferries, a member of Attica Group, recently conducted free medical examinations for skin nevi (moles) and gave awareness speeches on the dangers of prolonged sun exposure to the local communities of Paros and Naxos islands, within the framework of its “Sun Protection” program. The established “Sun Protection” program aims to raise awareness in regards to the prevention and risk from prolonged sun exposure and provide information about appropriate sun-protection measures that eradicate the risk of health hazards. This year, some 700 people from both islands were examined while many mole removal procedures were conducted by experienced plastic surgeons. The program, which ran for the fifth consecutive year, was carried out in collaboration with the Organization for the Prevention and Treatment of Melanoma “Melampous.” “Sun Protection” is a part of Attica Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program entitled “With you as our destination” and is addressed to the islands served by the Group’s fleet through companies Blue Star Ferries & Superfast Ferries. From 2008, the “Sun Protection” program has traveled to 14 islands of the Aegean including: Amorgos, Tilos, Nissyros, Astypalaia, Donoussa, Schinoussa, Koufonissi, Iraklia, Patmos, Leros, Ios, Santorini, Paros and Naxos. The initiative has been awarded with the “2010 ERMIS Silver Award” in the field of PR for the category “Society & Business” by the Union of Corporate Advertisers of Greece (EDEE).
