The established “Sun Protection” program aims to raise awareness in regards to the prevention and risk from prolonged sun exposure and provide information about appropriate sun-protection measures that eradicate the risk of health hazards.

This year, some 700 people from both islands were examined while many mole removal procedures were conducted by experienced plastic surgeons.

From 2008, the “Sun Protection” program has traveled to 14 islands of the Aegean including: Amorgos, Tilos, Nissyros, Astypalaia, Donoussa, Schinoussa, Koufonissi, Iraklia, Patmos, Leros, Ios, Santorini, Paros and Naxos.

The initiative has been awarded with the “2010 ERMIS Silver Award” in the field of PR for the category “Society & Business” by the Union of Corporate Advertisers of Greece (EDEE).
