The Sofitel Athens Airport is currently hosting works from the “Connections” collection of internationally renowned Greek artist Mark Hadjipateras.

The creations of the artist are exhibited throughout the premises of the hotel (lobby, entrance, bar) and, according to the Mr. Hadjipateras, “the approach is very different from the usual presentation of exhibits at a gallery.”

Of particular interest is the large sculpture entitled “Jongleur” that is displayed in front of the hotel and “greets” guests of the Sofitel Athens Airport and travelers passing through Athens International Airport.

“The fact that thousands of people of different nationalities will interact with my work marks an important moment in my career as, for me, art is an international language of communication,” the artist said.

For the past 12 years, Sofitel Athens Airport offers international guests the opportunity to experience contemporary Greek art as it regularly hosts sculptures, paintings and art installations on its premises.

“The presentation of exhibits on the premises of a hotel was a challenge for me,” Mr. Hadjipateras said.

The “Connections” collection of Mark Hadjipateras will be on display until autumn 2013.
