graffiti_athensA clean-up campaign to improve the appearance of the historic streets of the Greek capital was launched today by the Municipality of Athens.

The three-month campaign will include:

  • cleaning public and private building facades
  • repairing and strengthening streetlights
  • restoring small poles on sidewalks to prevent illegal parking
  • pedestrian crossing refurbishment

The campaign launched today from Athinas Street and will gradually continue on Stadiou, Panepistimiou and Ermou streets.

According to the municipality, the city’s artistic graffiti will not be removed from surfaces.

Below is a video showing recent cleanups on the facades of buildings in Varvakios, Ermou and Athinas streets.
