The “Ifestia” festival is organized every August on Santorini and involves the representation of the eruption of the island’s renowned volcano. Thousands of fireworks are launched from the volcano and boats and create a spectacular atmosphere. Various cultural events and concerts will also take place during the festival. “Santorini owes alot to this volcanic morphology and the presence of these active craters, which have given the island many privileges: from its unique agricultural products to its stunning and world famous image,” the Municipality of Thera, Santorini’s capital, said in an announcement. The Ifestia Festival 2013 will begin at 9:15pm. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
