Tucked away in the folds of a lush hillside in Laconia prefecture, with privileged views of the medieval castle-town of Monemvasia and the dazzling blue of Myrtoo Sea, the restored Byzantine-era rural mansion now constitutes eight residence suites and 27 unique rooms and suites. Built on an estate spanning 15 acres, the hotel blends magically with the surrounding vineyards, timeless olive groves, imposing eucalyptuses and lofty cypresses. Aside from timber floors and ceilings and cool marble bathrooms, there is a distinct detail that sets apart the new residence suites. Each features a wooden headboard depicting a traditional Greek embroidery pattern achieved via a unique imprinting technique. Thrown deftly into the décor style mix are brilliantly-colored Szalay armchairs, Hanna Francis lighting, Artemide wall sconces and Mis en Demeure vanities and desks. The style is indeed on trend, but somehow it harmonically blends with the ambiance of Kinsterna, its history and the unparalleled natural beauty of the surrounding area, which is a mind-soothing mix of mountain and seaside. Kinsterna’s owners plan to extend the amenities and facilities available to guests and their expansion plan comprises six smaller buildings that will house a total of 23 residence suites, a main building with common areas and a new pool.
