SETE Will Present Plan That Sees 24 Million Tourists Coming To Greece In 2021

A growth-oriented strategic plan for tourism that sees Greece welcoming 24 million international arrivals and collecting 18-19 billion euros in revenue on an annual basis by 2021, will be presented at the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises’ (SETE) 12th tourism and development conference next month.

SETE will analyze proposals for the country’s tourism sector and findings from the study “Tourism Strategic Planning 2021,” carried out in collaboration with the McKinsey consulting firm and the Greek State.

According to the association’s strategic plan, the number of foreign tourists visiting Greece could reach 24 million arrivals in 2021, with direct and indirect revenues reaching up to 50 billion euros and jobs in the tourism sector climbing to 1 million.

During the conference, SETE will focus on specific proposals from the plan that refer to the creation of new tourism products, needed infrastructure and necessary investments that are essential in order for the study to reach its targets.

The association’s annual tourism and development conferences have proved important to open discussions and create public dialogue on tourism and are aimed at investors, entrepreneurs, senior business executives and public sector officials who aspire to have an active role in the development of Greek tourism.

The title of this year’s conference is “Tourism Strategic Planning 2021: The Implementation Roadmap” and will take place 21-22 October 2013 at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel.
