According to ELSTAT figures, Greek museums recorded a 12.3 percent increase in visitors and a 9.9 percent increase in their receipts in May, compared to the same month in 2012. Greek archaeological sites also saw a 25.5 percent visitation increase and a 13.9 percent rise in receipts, compared to May 2012. In regards to visitation levels to Greek museums and sites during the first five months of 2013, ELSTAT showed data of a 17 percent increase of visitors to museums and a 8.1 percent rise in receipts, compared to the same period last year. Archaeological sites also saw more visitors during the January-May 2013 period as a 30.8 percent increase was recorded along with a 20.8 percent increase in receipts, compared to the same period in 2012.
