According to reports, travel giant TUI is already taking bookings for next year and therefore Greek tourism professionals are expressing optimism for the 2014 tourism season. Yiorgos Telonis, president of the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA), told the Greek press that TUI’s estimates would “lure” other major “players” (tour operators) to bring more tourists to Greece. “TUI sees the improved climate in our country and the positive impact it is has had on foreign markets,” Mr. Telonis said. He added that what Greece has to do next is improve infrastructure (local tourism facilities) to be ready to welcome next year’s increased tourist traffic. Mr. Telonis also underlined that Greece should also expect an increase in arrivals due to the turmoil in Egypt.
