Travelport and ACTE mobile study also reveals the ancillaries corporate travel programs provide

Business_travelVisa information, vaccinations and weather forecasts top the list of additional information business travelers expect to receive from their corporate travel program, according to a joint report by Travelport and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).

Topping the list of information provided to business travelers is visa information (59 percent), followed closely by immunizations (41 percent) and weather forecasts (40 percent). Other information provided includes city maps (37 percent), restaurants (25 percent) and entertainment (10 percent).

Extra baggage and hotel Wi-Fi are the most commonly authorized ancillaries, at 57 percent each. Advance boarding (45 percent), hotel breakfast (45 percent) and flight upgrades (39 percent) are also popular options provided.

Of those surveyed, 26 percent corporations allow no ancillaries to be booked for corporate travel trips.

“We are seeing the range of destination services and ancillary options grow increasingly more complex,” explained Simon Ferguson, Travelport UK & Ireland Regional Director.

“Within the ancillary mix, it becomes further segmented by organizations offering options such as upgrades and lounge access only to select groups of employees,” he said.

According to Mr. Ferguson, Travelport’s differentiated product strategy, which includes its innovative merchandising platform, enables the distribution of new content such as lounge passes and baggage, in line with the needs of this new breed of consumers.

“Travelers’ needs are evolving and ‘Generation Y’ now expects customized content, intelligent itineraries and easily bookable ancillary content,” he added.
