Travelport recently marked its continuous growth in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the opening of a new office in Abu Dhabi.

The distribution services and e-commerce provider for the global travel industry first established direct commercial operations in the UAE capital in 2009, and the move to the new premises in Shining Tower, Khalidia, is a testament to the company’s continued success in this significant Middle East region.

More than 50 Travelport customers, industry partners and staff gathered for the official opening of the new Abu Dhabi office.

According to Ghulam Al Balooshi, Travelport’s Commercial Director for Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the new office underscored the company’s long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi.

Travelport has been enjoying remarkable success in Abu Dhabi since launching direct operations in 2009, and the UAE capital remains an important focus for the company’s Middle East operations.

“The travel industry in the UAE capital is continuing to develop at a rapid rate and this growth brings significant opportunities for the GDS industry with more and more agents seeking to work with a GDS partner,” Mr. Balooshi said.

“Our focus in Abu Dhabi therefore remains on providing the latest technology solutions and the highest levels of hands-on support to our customers and to the wider travel industry,” he added.
