Philoxenia To Open To New Markets, Trade Visitors

The Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition aspires to develop into a regional meeting point for the global tourism industry in Southeast Europe, attracting trade visitors from all over the world, organizer TIF–HELEXPO said in a press conference on 20 November.

The 29th Philoxenia expo will open tomorrow, 21 November, at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center.

According to the organizer, “internationalization” is the first strategic objective of its new business plan.

“TIF –Helexpo is opening Philoxenia to even more markets and trade visitors while at the same time promoting the country’s huge tourism potential,” the president of TIF-HELEXPO, Tasos Tzikas, said.

The inauguration ceremony of the 29th Philoxenia will take place tomorrow, 21 November, at 8pm, by Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni.

This year, the exhibition welcomes 235 exhibitors and over 100 hosted buyers who have over 1,000 scheduled meetings with Greek exhibitors.

The hosted buyers are from 33 countries with 74 percent coming from Europe, 15 percent from the Balkans, 14 percent from Asia, 10 percent from America (U.S., Canada and Brazil) and two percent are from Africa. Of these, 39 percent are event organizers, 34 percent are tour operators, 30 percent are wholesaler travel agencies and 29 percent are retailer travel agencies.

A group of 35 Turkish travel agents will also attend the exhibition.

One of Philoxenia’s highlights this year will be the religious tourism conference entitled “Macedonia-Thrace: Sites of Saints, Sites of Pilgrims” that will take place 22-23 November (Nikolaos Germanos congress center, hall Α).

9th Polis expo

Polis_expoAlong with Philoxenia, the 9th International Exhibition for Local Government, Public and Social Sector & Private Enterprises (Polis) will launch at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center. The inauguration of the 9th Polis will take place tomorrow, 21 November, in the presence of the Greek Minister of Macedonia-Thrace, Theodoros Karaoglou.

The Philoxenia and Polis exhibitions will both wrap up on 24 November.
