Hospitality.next_logoInvestors around the world are beginning to show a particularly strong interest for ho[s]tel type hotels, according to a recent report from HVS* London.

The term Ho[s]tel attempts to embody the hybrid product that combines hotel services with the informality and friendliness of a hostel.

Budget hotels are indeed a global trend: from Los Angeles billionaire Ronald Burkle who invested $250 million for the acquisition and renovation of 10 hotel units in the US, to Chinese Ji Qi and HanTing that is expected to be the largest hotel chain worldwide with 10,000 units by 2020.

The dynamics of new budget accommodation models and what this means for “traditional” hotels will be analyzed by Russell Kett, President HVS London, at the “Hospitality.Next: Check-in to the Future” conference  in Athens on 5 December.

The conference will feature innovation practices in tourism presented by nine international speakers.

“Hospitality.Next: Check-in to the Future” will be held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the Association of Geek Tourism Enterprises (SETE). The Athens Development & Destination Management Agency and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels are supporting the conference.

Sponsors of the conference are Yahoo!, Pylones (HP Business Partner), FORTHcrs, ibelsa, Stanton Chase and DEPA.

GTP is among the media sponsors of the conference.

* HVS is the world’s leading consulting and services organization focused on the hotel, mixed-use, shared ownership, gaming and leisure industries.
