The third quarter is Greece’s summer tourism peak season, traditionally the most profitable period for the country’s tourism industry. According to ELSTAT, the turnover index in Greece’s tourism sector during the June-August 2013 period increased by 75.3 percent compared to the second quarter of this year. However, the turnover index of Greece’s tourism industry in the third quarter of 2013 appears less than that recorded during the June-August periods of 2010 and 2011.
