Thessaloniki Gets New Convention And Visitors Bureau

capsis-hotel-thessalonikiTwelve entrepreneurs based in Thessaloniki, directly involved in congress tourism, have joined forces to launch a new bureau to promote the Greek Northern City as a destination for meetings and conventions.

According to an announcement, the new convention and visitors bureau is a non-profit organization that aims to develop and manage the conference product of Thessaloniki and act as a reference point to attract conferences and visitors to the city.

The bureau will begin operations on 1 January 2014 and the initial share capital will be covered by “those who have faith in Thessaloniki as a capable city to attract European and international conferences,” the announcement said.

The 12 entrepreneurs are well-known figures of the Greek tourism scene and include:

TCVB_ThessalonikiKonstantinos Alexopoulos, Domotel Hotels and Resorts CEO; Despina Amarantidou, Artion Conferences & Events Director General; Yiannis Aslanis, Mediterranean Palace Hotel General Manager; Panagiotis Zelelidis, Grand Hotel Palace General Manager; Evripidis Karavasilis, Polis Convention Center CEO; Konstantina Mamada, Porto Palace Hotel General Manager; Ioanna Manousou, Capsis Tourist Enterprises of Thessaloniki S.A. board member; Prodromos Monastiridis, Thessaloniki Concert Hall Marketing Director; Haris Neofitidis, The Met Hotel Director General; Vicky Papadimitriou, Symvoli Conference and Cultural Management CEO; Spyros Peggas, Metropolitan Development SA Chairman; and Yiorgos Spyropoulos, Makedonia Palace Hotel General Manager.

The new venture is supported by the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace, the Municipality of Pylaia–Chortiatis, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Handicrafts, the Thessaloniki Hotels Association and the Halkidiki Tourism Organization.
