Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni with Culture Minister Panos Panagiotopoulos. Following a recent meeting with Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, Culture Minister Panos Panagiotopoulos announced that 30 of Greece’s most popular museums will extend their hours from this April until the end of the season. The extended hours will be adjusted to the convenience of cruise ship passengers that follow a strict time schedule when touring the country’s sites. Mr. Panagiotopoulos also announced that a Wi-Fi network will be installed, initially in the 30 most popular Greek museums and then in 88 museums and archaeological sites. He added that the culture and tourism ministries would look into the design of mobile virtual tour applications to enhance the visitor experience in Greece. The culture ministry also plans to launch an e-ticketing system for entrance to Greek museums and archaeological sites. According to the tourism minister, such a system would boost the revenue of museums and sites in the country.
