The Selene restaurant on Santorini, Greece, made it onto The Daily Meal’s second-annual 101 Best Restaurants in Europe list that honors the bounty of fine cuisine that can be found in countries all over the Continent.

The Greek restaurant came in 82nd place on the list, a grouping of what The Daily Meal calls a “carefully selected collection of the region’s finest epicurean enterprises.”

The Daily Meal is a website that covers every aspect of the food and drink experience: restaurants, chefs, food trends, cookbooks, wine and spirits, healthy dining, home entertaining, food-oriented travel, and of course cooking.

On Selene restaurant, located in the center of the Pyrgos area and perched on one of the highest points on Santorini, offering amazing views, The Daily Meal said: “The aim of Selene, to promote local products and cuisine, has remained the same since it opened 27 years ago… Located adjacent to some of the island’s famous vineyards and farmland, Selene has a new chef, Nikos Boukis, but the locally inspired food remains extraordinary…”

Selene’s menu includes offerings like sardines in bread tart, served with beet carpaccio, walnuts, and walnut oil; and rabbit marinated in red wine, served in herb-scented pastry with variations of onions.

The restaurant also includes a folklore museum featuring exhibits on traditional agricultural production.

The list of the 101 Best Restaurants in Europe includes establishments from 19 countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Monaco, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The initial list of nominees included some 314 restaurants in 31 countries.
