The archaeologists note that the protection, promotion and management of Greece’s monuments is exclusively under the responsibility of the state in accordance to the Constitution and laws of the country. “These sites embody our historic memory and conscience and are not objects for negotiation with whatever investors, they are not up for privatization of available for any private firm or individual to make a profit,” the announcement reads. The Greek Archaeologists invite all to “defend the collective memory, the monuments and culture and shout that they are not for sale.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
