Holiday booking website Trivago recently released the 10 most popular winter destinations for the Greek people, according to searches made by users from the country (check infographic below). According to Trivago, Bansko in Bulgaria comes as the first choice for Greeks (20 percent) when they are searching information to take a winter vacation. Arachova is the second destination of choice (11 percent), followed by Delphi (10 percent). Five percent of Greek users chose Kastoria and Portaria for a winter holiday. This brought the destinations to the fourth and fifth places. Greek destinations Nafplio, Metsovo, Ioannina, Makrinitsa and Pelion complete the top 10. During the 1 December 2013-6 January 2014 period, Trivago found that 74 percent of Greeks intend to travel within Greece this winter. Only a small percentage (26 percent) of Greek users said they would travel abroad for a winter holiday.
