Investments Greece, Saudi Arabia Sign Major Tourism Development Agreement by GTP editing team 10 February 2014 written by GTP editing team 10 February 2014 1 comment Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 26 A memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism was signed between Greece and Saudi Arabia on 10 February in Riyadh by Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Chief of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities Prince Sultan bin Salman. Mrs. Kefalogianni signed the memorandum during her three-day visit to Riyadh. In a meeting, the tourism minister presented the action plan for the development of Greece’s tourism industry and referred to the major reforms made in the tourism sector and the Greek economy. She made particular reference to Greece’s modern tourism infrastructure and high quality tourism services. Investment Mrs. Kefalogianni also presented the possibilities and opportunities available for tourism investments in Greece. The Greek Government has recently taken several legislative initiatives that facilitate the development of entrepreneurship. Also, Greece has announced plans to offer residency permits to non-EU citizens, including Gulf investors, on purchasing or renting property. Strengthening tourism & culture ties Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in the tourism sector and discussed launching a cooperation in areas of expertise, training and culture. Within the context of promoting Greek and Arab culture it was agreed for a joint cultural event to take place in Athens and Riyadh. On his side, Prince Sultan bin Salman presented Saudi Arabia’s achievements in the cultural sector (museums, archaeological sites) and focused on the modern infrastructure available today his country.
