The Ionian island of Kefalonia was rocked recently by two strong earthquakes that caused damages to many homes and public buildings. Kefalonia will welcome tourists as usual During a speech, Mr. Galiatsatos highlighted the strengths of the Ionian island of Kefalonia and its tourism. He announced that all accommodation units would operate regularly during the upcoming tourism season. According to the hotel association’s president, bookings from abroad to the island did not freeze after the earthquake, but rather “increased significantly.” Mr. Galiatsatos said the island’s airport suffered minor damage and that restoration was on schedule. “Kefalonia will be entirely ready for the new tourism season,” he said with a smile. Mr. Galiatsatos thanked everyone for their support and especially the Greek Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras, who “not only came to the island immediately, but even spend the night in a hotel in Argostoli.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
