Valentines_Day_surveyThe city of Paris, France, is the first choice of the Greeks for a Valentine’s Day getaway, according to a recent survey conducted by Travelplanet24.

When the Greek online travel agency asked 1,250 Greeks where they would travel for a Valentine’s Day getaway, 41 percent described Paris as the ideal destination for the occasion. Venice, Italy, was the Greeks’ second destination of choice (22 percent), followed by Vienna, Austria (13 percent) and Prague, Czech Republic (11 percent). The remaining 13 percent opted for Seville, Spain and Budapest, Hungary.

Moreover, it was confirmed that Valentine’s Day is very important to the Greeks. Over 52 percent of those questioned said they prefer to travel to a European city with their other half while 30 percent would rather spend the day either at a spa in a luxurious hotel or enjoy a romantic dinner in a restaurant.

Also, Travelpanet24’s survey showed that love is above all as 60 percent of the Greeks said they would spend 100-300 euros for airfare despite the economic crisis.

Other interesting findings from Travelplanet24’s survey: 42 percent of Greeks described themselves as “adventurous travelers,” full of energy and enthusiasm, that prefer to just have fun rather than travel with a tour guide. Furthermore, 21 percent said they look for calmness and relaxation offered by a well organized trip.
