Destination “Athens-Attica” will be promoted to international markets through a series of joint actions based on a protocol of cooperation, signed on 12 February between the Athens-Attica & Argosaronikos Hotel Association and the Region of Attica. The new cooperation agreement, signed by the association’s president, Alexandros Vassilikos, and the regional governor of Attica, Yiannis Sgouros, will aim to restore the reputation of the Greek capital. The hotel association and the region will work together on organizing familiarization trips for foreign tour operators and travel agents and press trips for journalists of leading publications of major tourist markets. The familiarization and press trips will target specific markets and promote all of Athens’ and the Argosaronic’s thematic tourism products such as congress tourism, city break tourism, holiday tourism, yachting, etc. Monastiraki Square, Athens The agreement also confirms that both sides will have a joint participation at international tourism fairs while additional synergies include communication and publicity actions via websites and social media. In addition, the Greek capital’s hotel association and the region have agreed to launch online campaigns and competitions and promote information material on the destination and Athenian hotels. Important art events and activities that highlight Athens will also be supported and promoted in Greece and internationally.
