lotairlinesAs of 17 February 2014, LOT Polish Airlines passengers may use portable electronic devices, such as cell phones, tablets (in flight mode) and cameras, during all phases of flight, including takeoff and landing.

So far passengers had to turn off their personal electronic devices for takeoff, landing, and when the “buckle up” signal was enabled on the board. Now, electronics may be switched on in “flight mode” (non-transmitting mode) throughout the journey. Cell phones cannot be used for voice communications or sending SMSes. However, it will be possible to read a book on an electronic reader, work or play on a laptop, or view photos on one’s own phone during take-off and landing.

This is another solution of the Polish carrier, under the new communication style: “You set the course,” to adapt its services to the expectations and needs of passengers.

According to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the use of electronics on-board planes does not affect aircraft operation provided that flight mode is switched on.
