halkidikiThessaloniki and Chalkidiki will launch joint tourism packages to increase both Greek destinations’ potential to attract more tourists from the Scandinavian market.

During the Grekland Panorama tourism fair in Stockholm, Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki were promoted together as a broader destination that offers tradition and modern lifestyle, holidays and city breaks, history and culture, gastronomy and local products.

“The sun and sea model is very close to the preferences of the Scandinavians in the fields of leisure, holidays and family tourism,” the Thessaloniki Hotels Association said.

The association announced that it would cooperate with the Greek National tourism Organization office in Sweden to organize press trips to both destinations for the Swedish media.

According to the Halkidiki Tourism Organization, the combination of Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki within joint tourism packages is expected to boost Swedish arrivals to Northern Greece, especially now that Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will launch the direct Stockholm-Thessaloniki service in April.

Grekland Panorama, the first dedicated travel and taste fair for Greece, took place 14-16 February at venue Globe Arenas, Annexete, Stockholm.
