The Authentic Past-Present-Future Through three minutes of facts accompanied by a mixture of footage from various past and recent marathon races in Athens, the promo video gives a brief history lesson of the birth of the legendary run that traces the route of the 1896 Olympic course, starting in Marathon on the eatern coast of Attica, site of the Battle of Marathon of 490 B.C.E., and ending at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fables run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon to Athens. The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometers (20 miles and 385 yards). ATHENS MARATHON.
