Destinations news “Secret Greece” To Be Promoted At ITB Berlin Expo by GTP editing team 4 March 2014 written by GTP editing team 4 March 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 13 Greece’s lesser-known destinations will be promoted at this year’s ITB international tourism exhibition in Germany, in an effort to attract tourists all year around, according to Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni. In a recent interview to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, Mrs. Kefalogianni said that through the ITB exhibition, Greece will show that it has a lot more to offer besides the already known “summer, sun and sea.” She referred to the country’s new advertising campaign “Secret Greece” that aims to promote the unknown side of Greece to the wider public. The Greek Tourism Ministry’s main aim is to attract visitors throughout the year and not only during high season (July-August). “Athens is unique” Replying to a question of what one can do in Greece during the month of March, the Greek tourism minister suggested a visit to Athens although the Greek capital is not part of “unknown Greece.” “We want to emphasize the uniqueness of the city. It’s a bit neglected but it is a vibrant city with lively neighborhoods that offer culture in every corner. Athens has more than classical antiquity,” she said. Mrs. Kefalogianni informed that from Athens, tourists can travel to neighboring islands located only a half hour away and where cars are not allowed such as Aegina, Hydra and Spetses of the Argosaronic Gulf. The Greek tourism minister is currently in Berlin on the occasion of Greece’s participation in the ITB tourism exhibition that opens on 5 March.
