Greece’s Fourth “Zagori Mountain Running” Event To Take Place In July

The mountainous region of Zagori, Greece, will shine this summer with the launch of the Zagori Mountain Running event to be held for the fourth consecutive year.

Zagori is a network of 46 villages spread all over the mountains on the north east of the city of Ioannina.

During 26-27 July, athletes and nature lovers from around the world will once again have the opportunity to take part in the trail running competitions through the picturesque but challenging landscapes of the Zagori Region.

Four races will take place: the Ultra (80km), the Mountain Marathon (42.195m), the Half Marathon (22km) and the Top Ten (10km).

Participants will cross the unique Vikou-Aoou National Park and enjoy the unique beauty of the Vikos Gorge (the second deepest gorge in the world after the Grand Canyon), Timfi mountain, Drakolimni lake, Voidomatis river and the villages known as Zagoria (Zagorohoria).
