Company updates Greece’s Goldair Handling Enters Varna Airport In Bulgaria by GTP editing team 5 March 2014 written by GTP editing team 5 March 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 Greek operator Goldair Handling has been granted a license to provide full ground handling services at Bulgaria’s third largest airport, Varna Airport, as of April 2014. Goldair is already active in Bulgaria, as it offers handling services at the airport in Sofia from 2010 and Burgas from 2012. According to an announcement by Goldair, the new cooperation confirms the company’s expansion abroad and specifically in the region of Southeast Europe. In 2012, Varna Airport served 1,220,000 passengers, more than 100 destinations in 57 countries and over 50 airlines operating flights during the summer season. Goldair Handling operates in 26 Greek airports, 2 airports in Cyprus (Larnaca & Paphos) and 2 airports in Bulgaria (Sofia & Burgas) and currently employs 2,300 employees in Greece and 620 employees abroad. The company recently signed a strategic alliance agreement with German ground handling company AeroGround, which is 100 percent subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, the airport authority of Munich airport, the second largest airport in Germany. Last year, Goldair handled more than 67,000 flights, 10 million passengers and 37,000 tons of cargo.
