Swedish readers of the online version of Expressen newspaper recently voted for their top 10 of the best Greek islands.

The article presents the Greek islands in order of preference and includes a brief description of the characteristics of each destination.

According to the article, Crete is the most popular island for the Swedes followed by Naxos that features stunning beaches and Amorgos, where the movie The Big Blue was filmed.

The beauty of nature on Karpathos and the historical sights on Samos occupy the fourth and fifth places of the top 10 respectively.

Rhodes with its nightlife and cultural heritage follows in the sixth place and Tilos comes in seventh.

The top 10 continues with Skiathos in the eighth place, labeled a “representative” of the Northern Sporades and Skopelos in the ninth place, mentioned as an island defined by a lush green forest and blue of the sea, as shown in the Mamma Mia movie.

The list closes with Santorini and a reference to the eruption of the Volcano, almost 3,500 years ago.
