Company updates “Discover Greece” Launches In German, French and Russian by GTP editing team 17 April 2014 written by GTP editing team 17 April 2014 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 As holiday bookings for Greece continue to heat up, the non-profit private sector tourism initiative Marketing Greece recently launched its destination portal Discovergreece.com in Russian, German and French. Just two months after its international launch in English and Greek, Discover Greece has broken new ground yet again by becoming fluent in five languages. In time to impact on this year’s tourism season, it has now established direct reach into the key markets of Russia, Germany and France, as well as the wider English-speaking community. A pioneering digital tool for Greece in terms of innovative design, quality of content and breadth of destinations and experiences covered, the portal seeks to highlight the diversity of Greece as a leading travel destination. Whether it is an urban music festival with top-billing artists in Athens, a young organic farmer producing an exquisite extra-virgin olive oil on Crete, a thrill-seeking holiday adventure that combines river rafting, hiking and horse-riding in Epirus, or the ultimate sun-and-beach island experience, there is always something new and exciting to discover in Greece. Visitors to the state-of-the-art, interactive platform can learn about unique experiences offered in 120 Greek destinations, and enjoy more than 3,000 striking photographs and 60 videos. The site features some 140,000 words of content in each language, mostly in the form of Hidden Gems, Highlights and Must See suggestions, while inviting visitors to personalise their holiday experience via the state-of-the art iGreece itinerary planner. Discover Greece’s integrated price-comparison booking engine, which allows users to book accommodation and air travel, is also now available in German, French and Russian. This follows the incredible success of the international WeDiscoverGreece campaign that heralded the portal’s launch in February, attracting more than 45,000 unique visitors and 13,200 subscribed users in just one month, and generating 890 uploaded user stories, 2.68 million unique Facebook visitors and 380,000 Youtube impressions. As a result, the campaign won the Silver Award for Best Use of Social Media in Greece’s 2014 Tourism Awards. Today, Discover Greece has almost 84,000 Facebook fans and 422,000 page views, with 15,000 individuals talking about it daily. For more information, press here.
