Photo © Dimitris Stavropoulos Travelers from all over the world were asked “which countries would you love to visit in the next 24 months if money were no object?” Australia and Italy topped the global wish list and next destinations in line were the United States, France, New Zealand, Caribbean, Greece, Japan, Spain and Switzerland. The survey found that Europe is the overall favorite region but that European travelers prefer to visit the US. The US tops the list for Spanish, Israelis, Italians, Greeks and Turks. Americans have their eyes on Europe When some 10,000 Americans were asked about their “dream destinations” to visit, Italy, Australia and Ireland ranked as the Top 3 for US travelers. The next “dream destinations” of U.S. respondents were New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Caribbean, France, Greece, Spain and Switzerland. The same survey found that Greece tops the list of “dream destinations” for Argentines. The TripBarometer survey was conducted by independent research firm Ipsos and highlights country, regional and global travel trends. The study reveals changes in consumer spending plans and worldwide travel patterns and also reports behavioral differences in planning and booking habits of travelers at different life stages.
