According to reports, the total cost of the project is estimated at 1.5 billion euros. The contribution of the government may reach up to 220 million euros while the remaining funding would come from the winning bidder. The project is said to create some 1,000 direct jobs during the construction phase of some five years. During the airport’s operation, 500 permanent jobs are expected to be created. The new airport will feature a runway length of 3.2 km and at least five fixed boarding bridges. Press reports said that the largest transnational construction company in the developing countries, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), has already expressed an interest to make a bid.
