Athens counts among the select destinations that Abu Dhabi-based newspaper The National recommends its readers visit this June.

The English-language daily spotlights cultural attractions that reveal the modern-day face of the city and offer a fresh, close-up look at celebrated historic icons.

Drawing UAE visitors to Athens

Pointing out that Athens is a “cultural and intellectual hub of yore,” which continues to innovate at sites old and new, the newspaper explains why UAE travelers should make the easy hop over to the Greek capital this summer – and beyond.

Panna Munyal suggests that visitors check out the soon-to-be-open National Museum of Contemporary Art, the restored Caryatid statues at the Acropolis Museum and the local fare at a restaurant on lively Aiolou Street.

The writer proposes a return visit in winter, checking in at a brand new boutique hotel housed in a historic neoclassical building. Readers are also invited to visit www.DiscoverGreece.com to find out what’s on while they’re in town.
