The author will be the event’s guest speaker and has been invited by organizers Nick Vatopoulos, journalist and founder of the online group Every Saturday in Athens*, and Vaso Sotiriou (public relations).

Ms. Hislop is known in Greece for her best selling book “The Island,” a fictional account of a real life leper colony, the island of Spinalonga, just off the coast of Crete.

The author is a big fan of Athens ever since her first visit to the city in the 80s. Since then, she visits the Greek capital regularly.

At the event, Ms. Hislop will share her impressions of Athenian neighborhoods, the Acropolis, Plaka, Lake Vouliagmeni and other places where she sees the beauty of Greece.

“Even though I am not Greek, I feel Greek at heart,” Ms. Hislop had said at a past press conference.

The event will take place on 13 June at the cafe of the Numismatic Museum in Athens at 9pm.

Her speech will be in English.

Entrance ticket: 5 euros

* Every Saturday in Athens: The purpose of the group, which has more than 17.000 members, is to create a network of active citizens in the city encouraging cultural activities.
