The two passengers were tenor Dimitris Paksoglou and soprano Eleni Kelesidi from the National Opera of Greece and their aerial performance was a surprise to passengers on the occasion of the carrier’s 15th birthday. In celebration of Aegean’s 15 years of travel, various gifts were given to passengers flying on 28 May. Aegean: 15 years of continuous growth in Greek and international market Aegean Airlines launched its first commercial flight on 28 May 1999 from Athens to Heraklion and since then provides full service, premium quality, short and medium haul flights. Aegean has a total of 8 aircraft bases, connecting Greece with 87 international destinations in 32 countries as well as flying to 33 domestic airports. Aegean has been honored with the Skytrax World Airline Award, as the best European regional airline for 2013. It is the fourth time that the company has received this distinction, the previous being in 2012, 2011 and in 2009.
