While speaking to SKAI television station, the Greek tourism minister said that 2014 has started with very good signs. “This will be a new record year,” she said. Last year Greece experienced a 15 percent increase in both arrivals and tourism revenue, compared to 2012. In regards to Athens, Mrs. Kefalogianni said that the capital city in particular has great potential as a tourism hotspot due to its cultural richness and congress tourism possibilities. The latest forecast of Greece’s main tourism body, the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), sees 19 million international tourist arrivals in Greece this year.
