The city of Athens in Greece will welcome the spring season next year with the races of the 4th Athens Half Marathon.

According to the Hellenic Athletics Federation, the 2015 Athens Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 3 May and will be the Greek capital’s biggest sporting event of spring.

“The race grows in size every year, it is a key priority for runners of all ages and categories and gives a new life to the city center,” the federation said. Next year’s race is expected to attract runners from abroad.

The 4th Athens Half Marathon will start from and finish in front of Syntagma Square and the Greek Parliament. The Half Marathon Race will be held in parallel to a 5km and a 3km Road Race as well as a 1000m Race especially designed for people with disabilities and Special Olympics athletes.

The previous Athens Half Marathon (held on 4 May 2014) attracted some 12,000 runners in all categories and the number is expected to grow even more next year.
