The award ceremony took place during the gala dinner of the 24th ACI (Airports Council International) EUROPE Annual Congress. The ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards cover four traffic categories of airports and aim to recognize achievement in core activities such as customer service, retail, security and corporate responsibility. There is also a separate award devoted specifically to airports’ environmental efforts. This year’s award in the “10-25 million passenger” category went to Athens Airport due to its high economic performance in a very challenging context, its excellent work in redeveloping its traffic base while keeping a strong focus on the quality of service. At last year’s award ceremony, AIA was honored with the 2013 Eco-Innovation Award by the independent Advisory Board of Airport Carbon Accreditation. ACI, the European airports’ association, is the voice of Europe’s airports, representing over 450 airports in 44 European countries. 2014 ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards “1-5 million passenger” category – London City Airport “5-10 million passenger” category – Stuttgart Airport “10-25 million passenger” category – Athens International Airport “Over 25 million passengers” category – Barcelona El Prat Airport Eco-Innovation Award – Oslo Airport Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
