This celebration is held every year on 23 June worldwide, day of the foundation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 in Paris, to send messages for sports to all. For Greece, this year’s celebration was of special importance due to the 10-year anniversary since the Olympic Games were held in Athens in 2004. The Hellenic Olympic Academy joined forces with Costa Navarino and held an event at the resort’s premises for more than 300 children who came from schools in the region and sports academies and those that were guests at Costa Navarino with their parents from many countries of the world. Golf has not been featured in the Olympics since 1904. Costa Navarino-Hellenic Olympic Academy partnership The events at Costa Navarino on Olympic Day marked the beginning of a multi-fold partnership between the resort and the Hellenic Olympic Academy in honor of the Olympic spirit. Costa Navarino will soon showcase an exhibition tracing the history of the Games named “The Modern Olympic Games 1894-2012. The contribution of Greece to the Items.” There, visitors throughout the world can learn the history of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Ideal. Also, within the same area, the fourth Olympic Education Training Center in Greece will operate, coaching local schools and guests. Students at the training center will study the academy’s educational book “Olympic Values! From Olympia… to the World! A Magical Journey!” The book will be available in different languages and the proceeds from its purchase will enhance the work of the Hellenic Olympic Academy.
