The Greek Tourism Ministry is planning to launch a web platform named “Greece-4-startup” that will aim to create new employment opportunities and support youth entrepreneurship in Greece.

Speaking on 26 June at the third Annual Stavros Niarchos Foundation International Conference on Philanthropy, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni stressed that the Tourism Ministry encourages youth entrepreneurship.

“Our intentions include young people starting their own business, one that is based on innovative ideas,” she said.

The Greek tourism minister said that the web platform “Greece-4-startup” could also be a place of information and exchange of ideas between the Tourism Ministry, private foundations and new entrepreneurs.

Mrs. Kefalogianni said she has faith in young Greeks and she called for cooperation between the private and public sectors to tackle the problem of youth unemployment.

Speaking on Greek tourism, she noted that the ministry succeeded last year in making Greece, once again, into a world-class tourism destination and that the upward trend is continuing this year.

“Tourism can be the key sector that will create opportunities and jobs, especially for the young ages and contribute to the country’s faster economic recovery,” the Greek tourism minister said.
